Awesome adobe

Kia ora bloggers,
This week for literacy we have been learning about inferencing and show not tell. When we read something, we automatically start making inferences, so it is important when we write that we give clues in our writing that allow people to make inferences. We want to show them - not tell them.
For example: Paul was frustrated when he got to the bus stop and realised he had just missed the bus. But instead I could write “Running as fast as he could, Paul turned the corner only to see the back of the bus as it pulled away. Throwing his bag down on the ground and sighing out loud, Paul realised that he had no choice, but to sit and wait for the next bus to arrive - 20 minutes from now” You can infer from me saying ‘throwing his bag down and sighing out loud’ that he is frustrated.
Our task was to create a video that accompanied a piece of writing about an elderly man. We used Adobe Spark to do this.
Have a look at my video and see if you can you make some inferences about what I have written.
Do you think the elderly man is happy?

Hairy faced men

Kia ora Bloggers,

This week we have been looking carefully at making inferences when we read or watch something.

An inference is when we take clues from a text or image, and
What’s going on in this picture? Look closely at the image above or view it in a larger size, then tell us what you see by posting a comment. On Thursday afternoon, we will reveal more about the image and its origins at the bottom of this post.
add them to our thoughts or prior knowledge and make an inference.
For example, when I look at this photo, I might make the inference that
this photo was taken in a food factory as everyone is wearing hair
nets and this is required in all food factories.

The text that we read a snippet out of was ‘The Twits’ by Roald Dahl.
Once we had read the first few chapters where they described the main characters, Mr. and Mrs. Twit, we then had to make some inferences based on the clues that Roald Dahl had given in the text.

I used Google Draw to create a display of my inferences I have made about Mr. and Mrs. Twit.

Have you read The Twits before? Do you agree with my inferences? What inferences would you make about the characters?

See you next time!

My lockdown diary

Our lives have changed, currently, we haven't been going to school we learn at home on our computers we can't go to friends' houses, and words of we can't go to Mcdonalds and all sport has been delayed. Unless your parents are essential workers, they have to work from home and you have to entertain yourself for the whole day and it's hard to do that when you can't go outside you can't see friends and you have to stay 2 meters away from anyone outside our bubble.
This all happened so quickly no one saw it coming.
I absolutely hate lockdown and here are some reasons why, one dreadful thing about lockdown is we can't see any of our friends, before the lockdown I would see my friends every day but now I don't see them at all which sucks because I can't put up with my family for four weeks, and another reason I hate lockdown is the school work we get isn´t the same as the stuff at school, I'm not saying I like the work at school but when we get out of lockdown were gonna be dumb and we won't have a clue of what our work is and I struggle with school anyway and now it's gonna get way harder. The last reason is the worst of all it's that that the Prime Minister put a suspension the all winter sport so no rugby training and when we're out of lockdown were gonna be straight into rugby season we would have forgotten how to tackle how to pass and we will be very unfit. That's my diary entry about what lockdowns like in my house hope you enjoyed.

Day 1 of isolation

Kia ora bloggers I'm Max from Marshland School,

For school during the lockdown, we had to choose three activities a day from our AKO, so I chose gardening, cooking dinner for my family and to complete a sudoku,

The first one I did was a Sodoku I have never done a sodoku before but all you have to do is get all the numbers 1-9 in a box and you have to get numbers1-9 in a horizontal line and a vertical line.

The second one I did was gardening my Dad blew all the leaves from underneath the trees and I had to sweep them up into a pile and throw them into the trailer, Then we went to the backyard and my Dad pulled all the hedges from underneath the trees and Me and my sister put it in the trailer.

And for my last task was to make dinner so I chose to do pizzas to make the pizza I had to dice up to big tomatoes cucumber and basil and we had to cook the chicken in a pot then I had to cut some courgette and then put all the ingredients on the pizza and cook it.

what do you have to do for school learning during the lockdown? Let me know in the comments.

Portrait of my life

kia ora bloggers
This term we have been doing portraits of ourselves and around the paper, we drew what our hobbies are and what matters to us, the painting style we are doing is influenced by Romero Britto I'm not much of an artist but this was the best I could do.
